All about the 2013 EclecticWorks Album
(lyrics, stories, etc!)

This album and all songs are now available
for download purchase at: CD BABY!

First, we want to thank you for your interest in our album. It has been in the works since November 2005!
Along the way, jobs schedules, and lives have changed immensely:
We've suffered loss of family, friends, a great band, and beloved animal friends. We've triumphed, endured a motorcycle wreck,
seen our jobs change for the better, started our passion for sailing, purchased a small sailboat and are now seeing
fruits for our efforts in many forms. Through it all, Robin wrote lyrics as time went by, thus, the album is totally autobiographical,
based completely on the truths of our journey.
A nice side effect to writing is a means of self-healing and expressing thoughts as we experienced them,
in order to persevere and continue to move forward.

Below, in order of appearance on the album,
are the songs and the history as to how they came to be,  and what inspired their creation.
Lyrics are also listed, and the songs are set up in order as they appear on the album.
Thank you again, and we hope you enjoy the read! -Robin and Lori, AKA - "HeartFire".

1. "Can We Just Sail Away"
Words and Music by Robin Lull:

A song relating to enduring major issues in the past, from a job that nearly took Robin's life,
and also our ongoing passion
for sailing, as well as the dream of eventually working our way  towards a live-aboard
(living on a boat) lifestyle as we edge into our retirement years.

(Yes we hope to keep gigging as we go, too!) Sailing term puns deliberately
intended and put in italics..
Lyrics are written to be like a conversation between the two of us, and you can hear sounds of the sea beckoning...

(Just sail away, just sail away..) She said where are you going now my dear?
I'm running away from the darkness of spirit.. I see it in everyone around me here, and I don't want any part of it.
They've taken all I can give..  Now I just wanna live, so can we just sail away..  yeah..
(Just sail away, just sail away..)

She said what are you doing now my dear floating  so far away from here? To a place where there's not any reason to fear..
Just heeling our souls on the waves.
I don't like their ideas of riches, I don't wanna scratch their itches, so can we just sail away?
(Just sail away, just sail away.. yeah yeah....) (Guitar Solo)
I don't wanna see it now... just get us away somehow, to get the wind back in our sails.

She said where are you going now my dear? (I'm) Running to find a life on the sea..
A home where the dolphins can play all day.. and ride the waves right in front of me..

Hurry babe, aren't you coming, yeah I can see now that you're running,
now we can sail away..
Just sail away, just sail away.. yeah yeah....

2. "The Inner Voice"
Words and Music by Robin Lull:

Lyrics to this song date back many years from a horrific experience on a past job, where Robin nearly died in a
fight to save his health and while persevering through some very cruel persecution, he found ways to keep his
sanity using the skills of discipline and focus which he learned while growing up in a dojo, and he wrote it all down...
The notes which later, aided his case, like several others to be won in court!

Cold rain on my face, blending all these tears..  Wind rushed leaves rolling by, I start to feel my ears.
Tired now from all I've seen, I wanna take back time. Yeah bring me back that better part of me,
to rediscover
what is really mine..
Tell me now is it wasting time to try and find our so-called peace of mind?
Tell me how, how to even start
to listen to the inner voice of my heart...
Hear the inner voice, yeah yeah   Listen to the inner voice yeah yeah

I see us fight for what we want, fiercely showing rage! When we find it gets us nowhere fast, I hope we can just turn that page...
Where's that voice, that we all once heard, soft yet strong and clear?
Sometimes life does those things absurd
and you lose what you hold so dear...
Tell me how to get back where the heart is, tell me now, how to get it all started, show me how, how do I make the choice,
to strike the chord and listen to the inner voice?

Listen to the inner voice yeah yeah Hear the inner voice, yeah yeah

Clouds gently roll away, sun comes out to brighten the day put that one foot in front of the other, remember every man
is your brother, then we just might see the day, peace is not so far away, yeah bring me back to that special place...
That would put a smile on my face.
Tell me how to get back where the heart is, tell me now, how to get it all started,
show me how, how do I make the
choice, to STOP THE NOISE?
3. "Your Solace(The World To Me)"
Words by Robin Lull, Music by Christopher Bergmann and Spectris:

Written while in the Spectris Band, Robin wanted to dedicate some heart-felt gratitude for his wife Lori, helping him endure the troubles
of his past (detailed somewhat in the first two songs of this album) and Mr. Bergmann could tell it needed some epic music. He immediately
went to work and came up with some amazing
original chord structures, arrangement ideas and guitar solos for the song.

Once it was discovered by fans friends and family, it
soon became what was lovingly dubbed as a "Shine On You Crazy Diamond"
type of song for Spectris at the time.
(Referring to the epic nature of songs like that by Pink Floyd).

This joint effort included Todd Westfall on drums, and Lori Lull on keyboards which really made Robin's lyrics come to life,
and gave him the opportunity to bring out some vocal emotion like never before.

Our eternal gratitude goes to Chris and Todd for their efforts on this song, and as a thanks,
we've added
new vocals and an extra rhythm guitar track by Robin and set it up as a free download
on the reverbnation player as a testimony to what we could all accomplish when we pooled our efforts.

Watching sunrises these days, just seems so surreal. Bewildering escape, from evils of men to barely heal.
Though it's late, peace I have finally found. This crazy ol charmed life, is finally comin' 'round..
Come so far now, come round full circle. Second shot to live it well, a change inducing miracle..

In this maddening life I see, the wonder of you the wonder of you. Your solace means the world to me..

Your solace means the world to me.. The world to me
the world to me.. Yeah

You speak to me words of love so clear and true, never coming quick for me when I speak to you.
As my insanity screams behind my eyes. You say you understand the reason why.. Then you touch me with your
small delicate hands. It quiets my soul, way deep down inside...

In this maddening life I see, the wonder of you the wonder of you. Your solace means the world to me..
Your solace means the world to me.. The world to me  the world to me.. Yeah.. ooooh. Aaahaaaaaoh. YEEEAH!
(Guitar Solo)

In this maddening life I see, the wonder of you, yeah, the wonder of you. Your solace means the world to me yeah..
Your solace means the world to me.. The world to me!
The world to me!.. Yeah.. The world to me..
yeeeah aahaaaa  ohoooohhh yeaeaeaeaeahaa

4. "Heart Of You And Me"
Words and Music by Robin Lull:

The
struggles of  trying to fit a growing musical endeavor into an already extremely busy lifestyle!
Seeing it nearly take off, only to have demands of careers crunch down on the time and make it impossible
to continue until years later.. and here we are...

Waiting for so long. Holding our dreams back. Time went by and made us see how far we were off-track.
Hindered from what I really am, others in control, made it just to give a damn, never feeling whole.
Doing someone else's thing, busy as can be..
I guess we just denied ourselves, of what was in the heart of you and me..

Dual lives they burn candles at both ends. A day of work then nighttime comes and chords begin to bend.
New age tools don't make up for missed opportunity.
But still you know we try to show whats in the heart of you and me...

Burning hearts with faith on fire we fuel the music with desire,
independence coming soon, the long awaited dream come true.

Going down old roads, no fruits for our time. We needed to take the reigns and find out what's yours and what is mine.
The time has come to take a chance, of living a life that's different.
Now we finally see, we've become what's in the heart of you and me...
(Guitar Solo)

Dual lives they burn candles at both ends. A day of work then nighttime comes and chords begin to bend, once again...

5. "Calling Dr. Strange"
Instrumental Music by Robin Lull:

Very fond of Sci-Fi and Comics for his whole life, Robin wanted to pay tribute to Stan Lee
for giving such wonderful values and lessons in the form of his superheroes over the years.
Calling Dr. Strange is a very heartfelt wink and nod to Stan Lee, and Robin can only pray
that Stan will see it while still here on our planet before heading to the next realm.

6. "Luck And Blossoms"
Words and Music by Robin Lull:

The music from Robin's Intrumental song, Apple Blossoms Return inspired this song
tying the two together structure-wise and theme wise, although in different keys.
A story of love between Robin and Lori, and his reflections on their life, and how very short
and fleeting, life and luck really are. Just like blossoms, and dragonflies...
HONORED to have the amazing Carey Lee Rush add his talented guitar noodling to our song!
Thank you so very much Carey, it would not be complete without your help, we love ya!

As I sit among the apple trees this year, I think my life with you is so complete my dear.
I'll make another dream come true for you somehow, it surely would give me a reason to be proud.
I guess its a price I had to pay waiting for luck to come my way,
they say that my life could turn on a dime,.... til you, it escaped me every time.

Dragonflies now gone with such a fleeting life. Just like the blossoms last a week in Spring sunlight.
Precious things are few just like we need our time, lucky dreams that do come true are hard to find.
I guess its the price I had to pay, to wait for a blossom to bloom my way.
They say that a life can turn on a dime, just wish I could turn your water to wine.

You're my "lucky blossom", life's my "dragonfly", I know that if youre with me everything's alright.
Sometimes strife and struggle slow us to a crawl.... but we just work it out and have ourselves a ball.
I guess theres just one thing left to say, so LUCKY that you ever passed my way.
Reminds me how life had turned on a dime the day you said yes, and you'd be mine.

Luck and blossoms. Just like dragonflies. Luck and blossoms, just like dragonflies.
7. "Apple Blossoms Return"
Intrumental Music by Robin Lull:

Originally inspired by strolling around Dartmouth College campus,
Robin wrote this song, and had begun to write lyrics which eventually become
song #6- Luck And Blossoms on this album. The music was a celebration at the
so very brief beautiful blossoms that transform the campus grounds into an
amazing wonderland of color and textures every Springtime.

8. "Wrecking-Ball Behavior"
Words and Music by Robin Lull:

At the peak of his anger towards others who were persecuting him
just for the sake of bullying behavior, Robin wrote this scathing song
to call them out on their very poor, "wrecking-ball behavior" and
giving them fair warning, not to push him too far..

Gonna start a fire and make it swirl. Show your wrecking ball behavior to the world YEAH.
Got my own life, yeah one that's mine. Gonna take it back right now and make it fine.
I'm sick and tired of your lies and smear campaign, you've played this game, for too long now every day.

Start and fire and build it high, gonna burn your bridges just like you did mine.
It's time to turn the tables and the tide, I'm taking back my dignity and pride YEAH! HUAH!

Gonna start a fire and make it fly, gonna show the world your corrupted, warped, sense of style.
Gonna give back all the pain that you gave. So you can deal with it til your end days yeah!
Gonna start a fire and just make it swirl,
Show your wrecking ball behavior to the world

Start and fire and build it high, gonna burn your bridges just like you did mine.
It's time to turn the tables and the tide, I'm taking back my dignity and pride...yeah

God knows I've had enough of your wrecking ball behavior! I've had enough of your wrecking ball, wrecking ball behavior!

You've stirred the old grizzly inside this man of peace.. yeah my anger just reached it's peak.
You forced a trained man of honor to fight.. now you better run or realize the might!

Start and fire and build it high, gonna burn your bridges just like you did mine.
It's time to turn the tables and the tide, I'm taking back my dignity and pride...yeah

God knows I've had enough of your wrecking ball, wrecking ball behavior yeah....
I've had enough.. I've had enough of your wrecking ball wrecking ball behavior!

9. "Sad Sunset"
Instrumental Music by Robin Lull:

Now for the toughest one to discuss: This song is dedicated to two very important animal friends,
who became the closest thing to sons that Robin and Lori will ever have...
Rascal(Razzy) 1990-2008 an amazingly intelligent Terrier mix who lived so long he would have been out of high
school if he had indeed been a human being.. he watched Lori and Robin clear their land, build their house,
and helped them raise Dudley, -the next one in line..
Dudley(Duhbuh), a dopey loving beagle who would just warm your heart. His life was cut short when his chest
filled with cancer at 12 years of age....  What remained of Robin's inner child who vowed to never "put down a pet"
died inside when he had to break that promise and is now left with the feeling of betraying his boys.
The creation process of this song
around 2008-2009 was done in a frame of mind like that of a grieving  father,
so crushed by his deed and the flashbacks, that Robin could barely see the instruments he played, and the mixes he made.
He could not even bare to write lyrics, because every time he tried, he only got as far as humming a melody,
which was his mind looking back at fond memories with the boys, and he couldn't hold himself together.
But he finally thought it was fitting, as there really are no words for that level of pain in a breaking heart.
He could not even listen to what he created until it needed the final mix-down for the album, once again,
causing many new tears, but at the same time, although extremely painful, he knew this selfless act needed to be done,
to pay tribute to these awesome dogs which he and Lori loved so very much.
In Rascal's name, they adopted another Terrier mix (Roscoe) and a Sheltie mix (Riley) from the local Humane Society,
where so many years before, Lori and Robin found Rascal.. A full circle celebration of his life for all involved.
Also, in Dudley's name, they rescued another beagle, (Jake)
who was very old, and very fragile from harm's way to have a peaceful time in his twilight years.
Please consider adopting your next pet/animal friend, instead of supporting breeding grounds that overpopulate
and cause so many unfair/cruel conditions and early deaths by Euthanasia and other even more horrifying manners.

There are SO many awesome animals already out there who need someone to love... Thanks for reading.

10. "Music Box Melody"
Words and Music by Robin Lull:

A sappy ballad written by Robin, in loving jest of Lori's way of  forgetting lyrics to songs and instead,
saying funny things to make up new ones, which in reality is an endearing quality, in the silly way she does it.
At the same time, for many years, buying Lori music boxes was quite a theme and romantic courting ritual,
So with some tapping technique, and special keyboard voicings, Robin combined the two themes to build this song.

Doo doo da da dee, the words she sang to me, doo doo da da dee, like a sunny day...
when complicated times tear me up inside I need a thoughtful rhyme to bring me some peace today

Doo doo da da dee.. she says so easily, doo doo da da dee yeah you're ok...
Doo doo da da dee.. just sing this song with me, doo doo da da dee to me all day

Doo doo da da dee, I don't need any more. Cause it recenters me, and lets my old spirit soar.
Doo doo da da dee.. just sing this song with me, doo doo da da dee and you'll be ok

Doo doo da da dee..come sing this song with me, doo doo da da dee with me today
11. "Escape To The Sea"
Instrumental Music by Robin Lull:

A fun groove tune which just sounds like something you could listen to while weighing anchor
and beginning a cruise adventure on your favorite sailboat or any watercraft. The freedom
of the open sea is just around the next turn and a tropical paradise island theme lifestyle awaits!
Close your eyes, listen to this song, and you too, can escape to the sea....
